How would you like to spend your next day off sight-seeing amidst the big-city bustle of the Big Apple? How about a visit to the Empire State Building or one of New York’s many state parks? The Empire State has something for everyone! If you are in search of a high-paying travel nursing job with plenty to see and do, look no further than New York!
New York is home to the largest city in America, New York City, as well as the largest state park in the country, Adirondack State Park. Larger than the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Yellowstone combined, the park covers more than six million acres of mountains, forests, and lakes. Over 30,000 miles of picturesque rivers and streams, countless hiking trails, and 3,000 pristine lakes and ponds make Adirondack a much-needed refreshment for both New Yorkers and tourists alike.
Amidst the top of must-see travel lists is the Empire State Building. Constructed in the 1930s, the Empire State Building retained its title as the world’s tallest building until the construction of the World Trade Center North Tower in 1972. Visitors may ascend to the 102nd floor, where breathless views of the city await at the 102nd floor observation deck, which is open to the public.
When you work travel nursing jobs in New York, don't forget to stop and see Niagara Falls. The falls are composed of three separate waterfalls: the American Falls, Horseshoe Falls (also known as the Canadian Falls, which are illuminated at night), and Bridal Veil Falls. Prospect Point Park, which includes the Prospect Point Observation Tower, offers amazing views of the falls. Goat Island, accessible by bridge over the American Falls, offers even more breathtaking views and access to the Cave of the Winds. This natural cave was found behind the Bridal Veil Falls, where it was accessible by elevator until 1954 when a rock fall obliterated the cave. Today, guests descend the Niagara Gorge by elevator and follow a series of decks and walkways to the falls. From the railing of Hurricane Deck, guests are a mere twenty feet away from the thundering rapids of Bridal Veil Falls.
A boat tour of the falls is available aboard the Maid of the Mist, North America’s oldest tourist attraction. The Maid of the Mist is actually two boats, Maids VI and VII, each with a capacity of 600 passengers. The Maids depart once every thirty minutes and carry passengers past the base of the American Falls and then into the basin of the breathtaking Horseshoe Falls. Other tours are available via the Niagara Scenic Trolley, the Flight of Angels hot air balloon ride, or by helicopter.
